Caribbean Martial Arts and Contemporary Karate Forms.

As part of CKF’s primary mission to preserve, teach and display the rich heritage of karate unique to the Caribbean, the Caribbean Karate Federation (CKF) was formed in 2015 with that purpose in mind. With federation’s willing to join us, CKF offers refereeing and coaching classes year round throughout the Caribbean. CKF also provides access to in-clubs outreach classes and performances in local schools. A significant portion of 'elite students' attending classes at an CKF members club will receive some form of karate scholarship assistance from the CKF. The “Students of Caribbean Karate Groups” will endure systematic performances that are produced in May/June and awarded in December of that year throughout the regions, incorporating diverse styles, cultures and costumes as viewed by thousands annually.

The Caribbean Karate Federation’s program encompasses a majority of the karate forms within our region as well as other contemporary styles; most other federation gear their teaching primarily towards Japanese-based karate forms only such as (kata and kumite). Thus, the focus on one's local form Kalinda. Elsewhere in the Caribbean, clubs tend to concentrate on fighting forms within their particular island region. Thus CKF is unique in its comprehensive understanding and commitment to the cultural forms of the entire Caribbean area. This focus is particularly important as many traditional expressions such as “Kalinda and stick licking” are in danger of being lost to future generations.
